This summer I spent one week in Destin, Florida, with the cross country team to get in shape for the season. We would work out every morning and every evening for about an hour and a half. Between the times when we ran we had free time to do basically what ever we wanted. We could head out to the beach or wander anywhere that wasn't too far from the house we were staying at. I ended up watching a lot of movies everyday and going to waffle house often. The work outs ended up not being too bad. The most difficult thing we did was probably a fast 4 mile run right after we woke up. After every run we would swim, stretch, and then get food. It was honestly just a fun week and ended up being a great experience.
One of my choice book this summer was All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. It`s set in France, in a town under nazi rule. The novel`s main characters are a blind, French girl named Marie-Laure, and a young Nazi soldier named Werner. Marie-Laure uses a radio to broadcast Nazi artillery locations to the allies while Werner is part of a team that tracks down anti-Nazi broadcasts and kills the people responsible.

As a child Werner listened to a French Broadcast with his sister. One day in the army Werner picks up a broadcast that he believes is the same one he listened too as a child. He doesn`t tell anyone in his crew about it, instead he goes and tracks it down alone. There he meets Marie-Laure and falls in love with her. They basically become friends and help each other out.

I thought that the book was alright. To me it was neat that two people from very different backgrounds can come together despite the differences between them.
