Q2 weak 1 free post

The whole week that included fall break went really well for me. The Saturday of the homecoming dance I ran in one of the biggest meets in the state and won the Jr. high race. Our team placed first as well. Then on Wednesday I went to that math competition thing and placed second in algebra 1. I lost by one question. On Thursday a lot of the cross-country team met up at the LSU lakes and went to The Thirteenth Gate. It was pretty fun and a little spooky. Afterwards we all went to Buffalo Wild Wings. We ordered a serving of the hottest wings for the table and most of us had one. The wings were so hot that one of us went to the CVS next to the restaurant while we were eating to get some milk. On Friday and Saturday I went to the Walker cross-country meet. Our Jr. high team won as did our Varsity.

Free Topic Week 6

After weeks of pondering new inventions to be made, I have the mental outline for what could be the next generation in the automotive industry.The very best idea that I thought of was a car refrigerator. Imagine what your car would be like with a refrigerated console between the seats. The refrigerator function could be turned off for storage of non-consumables. When turned on, the console`s storage space would act as a mini refrigerator. It can be set to run at all times using power from the car batter (lower power but still running).

A car refrigerator would be arguably one of the most practical and useful inventions for the car consoles yet. During long car trips, having a mini fridge would eliminate half of the times someone would have to bring a lunch box or cooler with them. Even if someone is just in the car for a short amount of time, then their beverage would have a nice chill to it when they arrive at their destination. Not to mention packing some everyday (or seasonal) cold snacks, such as a nice slice of pumpkin pie. 

Reading response week 6

Right now in A Connecticut Yankee In King Author`s Court by Mark Twain, the protagonist is preparing to go on a liberation quest to rescue some damsels and captured knights from three horrid, mutated brothers. He was recommended to accomplish this quest by the king as a way to establish himself as someone of true nobility. The protagonist in a way needs this quest to gain support and by time for when his challenge from a rival noble. The protagonist is thankful for this opportunity to show of what he can accomplish. The book so far has gone through great detail showing how someone with a more modern education can completely disrupt and mold society. The protagonist gained power by posing as a wizard. Because of this he was able to gain enough authority and resources to establish more fundamental properties of current society that were not implemented yet in that time period. He was able to create better school and greatly increase the amount of scholars and people better suited to advance society. The book expresses that people are capable of many things if they can understand whats around them.

Harrison Bergeron

The short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut was one of the most profound and thought provoking books I have ever read. In the story, society has deemed it fit to equalize all people through means of stunting the abilities of people above average. Over time this average goes down and society as a whole is lessened each time.

This book is so though provoking in the sense that there are questions yet to be answered about the society`s function, and also deeper questions such as morality, right, and wrong. A couple of level two questions that seemed imperative to me were things like how the society deemed the averages and who orchestrated it, because there must have been some form of higher intelligence to oversee the society`s operations. There were also the more moral question such as if the society was right to average out it`s population. Was it fair? These questions can`t necessarily be answered be answered but only opinionated. My opinion for both of these questions is no.

short story week 5 blog

I turn on my television from across the room using my black, Samsung remote. I stream through Netflix effortlessly looking for tonight`s thrill. I stumble across a movie that I have never seen before.  I go to my pantry and grab a packet of pop secret. I take a quick walk over to my microwave and put the blue and white envelope inside.  I tap my foot while loud popping noises blare from the black heat box. When It is done popping I pull it out of the microwave. The package is steaming and also I notice the white colors on the paper are no longer white, but more of a yellowish tint. It is too hot to hold so I grab a blue, plastic bowl from a cabinet, poor the hot and ready popcorn into the bowl, and take a seat on my couch. I finally hit start on the movie. The Sixth Sense plays a half volume for two hours all the while popcorn cornels soar into my moth like reverse salmonella poisoning. I sit there enjoying every moment of it.
